- Where the property is — the town, and whether it is inside Amarillo city limits.
- Roughly when the house was built. A house from the 1920s in one of the older parts of town and a 2016 build in south Randall County are different problems.
- What the foundation is — slab, pier and beam, crawl space, basement, or a mix if there is an addition.
- Where you see it — which room, which wall, which corner of the house.
- When it started, and whether it comes and goes with the seasons or has only got worse.
- Anything about water — a downspout that dumps beside the wall, a flowerbed built up against the brick, a sprinkler zone that runs long, a low spot that holds after a storm.
If you have pictures of the crack, the door gap or the grade next to the house, mention it in the form and the contractor can ask you to send them before the visit.
